I'm living in Silver Gate, Montana for the summer working as an inn keeper/bartender at the Range Riders Lodge, just one mile outside the northeastern entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The lodge is part of a group of properties that also includes about 30 cabins and a general store, and we're in need of a few more housekeepers and general store workers for the summer.
These positions were all originally filled, but a couple Europeans had their visas denied at the last minute, so we have a few openings we need to fill ASAP!
Many people visit The Living Theory to read about my experience WWOOFing in Hawaii or working as a deckhand for American Cruise Lines, which closely parallel working out here right next to Yellowstone. So, I thought I'd throw this opportunity to come work with me and some other pretty cool folks out here in this epic, verging on mystical landscape for the summer.
As someone who would end up on my website, I naturally assume you're totally awesome and would love for you to come join us.
I've been here for a week now. This area is wild. There are bison friggin everywhere. Yesterday there were two moose standing right outside my window. Jagged peaks rip from the dense green pines on all sides of the valley surrounding Silver Gate. Snow still clings to the mountain tops. The whole scene is quite epic, but I'll cut to the chase here.
Housekeeping and Working in the General Store details:
$10.00 per hour (plus tips left behind in the cabins for housekeepers)
Usually about 30 – 40 hours of work a week (5 days on, 2 days off)
Housing is basically free ($10 per 2 weeks)
We're looking for a couple people to start ASAP and hope they can stay through September (but this is definitely negotiable)
It's also important to note, there's no cell phone service out here. Three miles up the road is the Cooke City Chamber of Commerce though and they have a solid wifi connection that anyone can use at any time, for free. It's how I uploaded this post. I've spent some time there pretty much every day thus far and the internet works flawlessly.
If you're into hiking, trail running, and getting outside, I'll be doing a lot of that this summer. After 24 years of not owning a car, I finally got myself some transportation to access these incredible places this summer. I'd be stoked to bring you along. This place is an absolute gateway to the outdoors, if you're looking for some epic scenery, adventure, and to fill up your bank account this summer, consider coming out to join us!
