Concerts

  1. Red Hot Chili Peppers — Live at Slane Castle 2003 Full Concert my favorite recorded concert of all time. Nobody moves people like the RHCP move people.

  2. Incubus — Morning View Sessions Concert — I listen to this concert three or four times a year. Brandon Boyd can sing. Incredible.

  3. The Blaze at Aiguille du Midi in Chamonix, France for Cercle — Few things make me go “humans are amazing” more than this concert. The Blaze gets the people goin’ too.

  4. Mac Miller: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert — Simple, beautiful, and raw. What a vibe. I’ve listened twenty times through.

  5. Bruce Springsteen — Prove It All Night (Phoenix, 1978) — The raw energy of The Boss in his hayday is endlessly inspiring to me. “We’re coming to your town to shake you and wake you up” on display.

  6. John Mayer — Gravity (Live in Los Angeles) — Bartending the Range Rider, I once played this song at closing, just a father, son, and me left. They didn’t know who John Mayer was, but the father was digging it. I jacked the volume for the solo and the father was so moved he cried.

  7. Michael Kiwanuka — Cold Little Heart (Live Session) — The slow build, the “ahh ahh,” the brokenness of the chorus… haunting beauty.

  8. Bon Iver — “Heavenly Father” Live at Sydney Opera House — My mystic musician friend sent this to me with “gets me every time from 1:50 on.” Me too.

  9. Tame Impala — InnerSpeaker (Live From Wave House) — One of my favorite live performances to listen to while working on things. Groovy surf rock vibes with hard to distinguish lyrics put my in a gorgeous headspace.

  10. Paolo Nutini — Iron Sky [Abbey Road Live Session] — Paolo’s voice… the combined intent of so many people in a room making music… the climactic Charlie Chaplin speech… sounds like revolution.
