Podcasts are like being a fly on the wall for profound conversations. Here lies a list of my all time favorite podcast episodes.
- Jewel on the Joe Rogan Experience — I had no idea. Jewel has been on the grandest, toughest adventure of a lifetime. Her approach to life and homespun form of psychological processing is brilliant.
- Bobby Klein on the Align Podcast — Bobby Klein has lived a heck of a life. I wish there were more elders in our culture. Bobby is rad and experienced and wise.
- Radiolab: Space — There’s a lot happening out there beyond our little space rock. Get acquainted with the people who acquainted us with it.
- Rick Rubin on the On Being Podcast — Ruck Rubin is a legendary music producer (working with artists as diverse as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dixie Chicks, Jay-Z, Adelle, and Johnny Cash). I believe he is both a creative genius and zen master.
- Elon Musk on the Joe Rogan Experience — The most legendary podcast episode of all time. Elon Musk blows minds and smokes weed on the Joe Rogan Experience.
- Vagabonding pioneer Ed Buryn on travel in the 1960s — In 1971, Ed wrote the book Vagabonding, inspiring thousands to see life different and explore our beautiful Earth. Like his book, this conversation is riddled with golden wisdom. After listening, I wrote him and hung out at his house for a surreal weekend!
- Derek Sivers on the Tim Ferriss Show — Derek Sivers is a wise-creative-countercultural-minimalist sage. Multiple nuggets of wisdom from this podcast episode still grace my life.
- Werner Herzog on The Portal — Wener Herzog is a badass German filmmaking legend. He tells it how it is and confronts life more full-frontal and direct than any other human of which I know.
- Kevin Kelly on the Tim Ferriss Show — Kevin Kelly is a known as the co-founding editor of Wired Magazine, and spent the majority of his twenties backpacking about pre-tourism Asia. This conversation was large inspiration for my own travels.
- Mary Oliver on the On Being Podcast — Mary Oliver is one of my all time favorite poets and one of nature’s most potent advocates.
- Steven Pressfield on the Rich Roll Podcast — Author of The War of Art, an absolute must read for creatives, Steven’s truly epic, lifelong struggle with the creative process is most inspiring.
- Mr. Money Mustache on the Tim Ferriss Show — If you save your money instead of spent it, you can be free.
- Elizabeth Gilbert on the Tim Ferriss Show — I love Elizabeth Gilbert. Big Magic is one of my favorite books, her talk on creative genius is one of my favorite talks (olé!), and this podcast is riddled with wisdom.
